We have been fortunate enough to make some great discoveries as the rennovation has been underway, including beautiful sash windows at the back of the store, amazing high ceilings and wonderful panelling around the pillars - all these perfectly complement the Velvet  look!

“One of Brighton’s busiest retailers Velvet has won the prestigious ‘Best Independent Retailer’ in the Brighton and Hove Business Awards for its 3 stores. With over 200 entries from around 135 Brighton companies, this 8-year-old family business and their very hardworking team of 25 were delighted with the award. It is a huge accolade as Brighton is now one of the busiest shopping areas in the UK.

The red carpet event at the Hilton Brighton Metropole in September 2007 attracted around 500 representatives from a glittering and diverse range of local businesses, celebrities, sportspeople, media, academia and community group representatives. Awards were presented by GMTV’s Marcella Whittingdale, who arrived on a tuc tuc to announce the winners of the 4th annual Brighton and Hove Business Awards. All the staff at Velvet looked amazing in their dresses bought especially for the event!”

We are so excited about winning ‘Best Independent Retailer’ for our 3 stores. The Velvet team work very hard to excel in Retail and this award confirms we are doing something right! The award has been great for PR, with lots of local coverage and an increase in customers. We are very proud of our staff who put a lot of effort into Velvet and the award has been great for morale. The awards have really inspired us to continue with our expansion plans in 2008.”
